Paulie sighs and shifts forward again.

“I’m willing to pay you twenty thousand dollars to just find me the info. I have some state of the art equipment. No one will be able to trace it back to you. I just don’t have anyone with the computer skills to do this. So, are you in, or are you out?” His hands move beneath the table. If it weren’t for my great hearing, I would have never known he just cocked his gun. The fucker has it pointing right at my dick as we speak. If I say no, he’s going to shoot me. Even if I say yes and can some way bungle through this, he’s probably still going to shoot me. I can’t think of any way out of this situation alive. Needing to stall him until we find out more info, I pretend to think on his offer. If I can do this, and get him info, I can try to make myself invaluable to him. That would buy us time to get info on the deals to bust him, or time to get Candace extracted from this case. Shit, I have no choice. Die now or try to stay alive later.

“Sure man, I guess I could use the money. Maybe use it to move out to LA with my girl, ya know?” He releases the catch on his gun, stands up and I watch, wide eyed as he shoves it into the waist of his dress pants.

“Great man, I’ll come pick you up tomorrow morning and we’ll get started. Let me know if you need anything,” he says, tossing a business card at me.
